You can pull the wire off the post at the head, and put a test light on the wire and ground it to the engine. no need to drive it or even run the engine, just turn the switch on and the light should light, with the key on. you can run the engine if you like, and rev it up and let off and watch the light, if it lights on ...

Hi, I have a 2000 37' Tradewinds. We took it out over the weekend and found that the Jake brake is not working. The RV is new to me and have not gotten completely familiar with it. Until now the jake brake worked great. It didn't this weekend. I would think the 1st thing to check is the fuse ( assuming there is a fuse).

The Jake Brake doesn't seem to work when in neutral. Teoretically it shoudn't matter wheter the transmission is in gear or not. It should drop the RPMs anyway, provided that neither the clutch nor the accelerator are pressed.
